louse.jpg (28158 bytes)

Found in debris on a solid floor that was sloping backwards and had become wet with driving rain. A dozen or so were present together with a few wax moth larvae.

Length 8mm

Front end on left

Front end extends during locomotion, appears to be feeling about and seems to be used to drag the rest of the body along.

Unlikely to be a louse. More likely to be a larva of some kind.
